Vermeil is sterling silver that has been gold plated. Our vermeil is plated with 14K gold. The difference between vermeil, and gold filled, is in the thickness of the gold and the base metal used. In vermeil, the base is sterling silver.

WHAT IS GOLD FILLED?
Gold filled jewelry is jewelry composed of a solid layer of gold mechanically bonded to a brass. The layer of gold on gold filled items is 5 to 10 times thicker than that produced by regular gold plating, and 15 to 25 times thicker than that produced by gold electroplate.

This is the 8th ring I have ordered from Olga over the last few years. I have looked at this ring many times and to be honest I don't know why I didn't buy it sooner. The ring is high quality as always, a perfect fit and beautiful stones. I have bought other rings from other Etsy shops that say they are gold filled and within a week the gold is gone. Olga uses what I call real gold fill like they used back in the 1930's and 40's. The gold doesn't wear off and that is part of the reason why I am a returning customer.
